Volunteers are Needed for North Shore Connect Day, October 15th!

Connect Day 2014 is an all-day event and is the most highly-attended event during Homelessness Action week each year. Organized by the North Shore Homelessness Task Force, this day offers many resources and health care for homeless and those at risk. Last year on the North Shore over 130 people attended the event to access Health Clinic, Foot Care, Flu Vaccines, Clothing Vouchers, Shoes, Socks, Hygiene Kits, Hair Cuts, Housing Outreach, Employment Programs, Eye Exams, Income Assistance Help, Fitness Access Cards, Counselling/Mental Health programs, Drug/Alcohol Programs, Smoking Cessation, Lung Testing, hot meals, and more.

This is a fun, positive day and we are looking for people who are energetic and organized but most importantly you must be comfortable working with and empathetic to people who attend the event. A volunteer orientation and tour of the facility will be conducted prior to the day.

Volunteers are needed to help make this day possible, please see our Volunteer Opportunities for more information and to apply!

‘Connect Day’ is on Wednesday, October 15, the event will run from 9am – 2:30pm at John Braithwaite Community Centre in North Vancouver. Volunteers will be needed during this time and before and after for set-up and take down.

Homelessness Action Week is October 12 – 18, 2014

We are starting our planning now and are looking for volunteers and community sponsors. Please contact us directly for more information and how to get involved.

Last year, in partnership with many North Shore agencies, local businesses, supporters and volunteers we helped over 130 North Shore homeless, and those at risk, access much-needed health and care services, and learn about services available to them at ‘Connect Day’. A special thank you goes out to everyone who supported us last year! For more information about HAW and reports from past years, visit our website page here
